Concrete Paver Installation in Saratoga County
Concrete pavers are one of the most popular choices for patios, walkways, and driveways in upstate New York, and for good reason. They're durable, come in a huge range of colors and shapes, and handle our winters well when they're installed correctly. Salvadore Services LLC is a Stillwater-based hardscaping and landscaping contractor, and we've been installing pavers for Saratoga County homeowners since 2018.
What We Build With Concrete Pavers
Paver patios: level, comfortable outdoor spaces for dining, grilling, and relaxing.
Paver driveways: a durable, good-looking alternative to plain asphalt or poured concrete.
Paver walkways: clean paths from the driveway to the front door and around the house.
Steps and landings: paver and stone steps that match your patio or walkway.
Fire pit areas: paver pads and built-in fire pits.
Borders and accents: banding, inlays, and edging to finish a project or dress up an existing space.
Pavers vs. Stamped Concrete
Homeowners often ask us whether to go with interlocking pavers or stamped concrete. Both can look great. Here's how they generally compare:
Cracking: Stamped concrete is one solid slab, so when the ground moves through freeze-thaw, it can crack. Pavers are individual units with joints between them, so they can flex slightly with the ground instead of cracking.
Repairs: If a paver gets stained or damaged, or if you need to dig underneath, individual pavers can be lifted and reset. Repairing stamped concrete usually means patching, and patches can be hard to match.
Upfront cost: Stamped concrete often costs less upfront, while pavers usually take more labor to install. Many homeowners find the repairability of pavers worth it over time, but every project is different.
Look: Stamped concrete imitates stone or brick. Pavers come in many real textures, colors, and patterns.
Maintenance: Pavers may need occasional joint sand touch-ups and weed control. Stamped concrete is usually resealed periodically.
We'll walk you through the trade-offs for your project so you can decide what fits your home and budget.
The Base Is What Matters Most
A paver surface is only as good as what's underneath it. We excavate to the right depth, install and compact a crushed stone base in layers, screed a bedding layer, lay the pavers, and lock them in with edge restraint and joint sand. Driveways get a heavier base than patios or walkways because they carry vehicles. We also plan the slope so water runs off instead of sitting on or under the surface.
Areas We Serve
We install concrete pavers throughout Saratoga County, including Stillwater, Saratoga Springs, Clifton Park, Ballston Spa, Wilton, Gansevoort, and Mechanicville.
Concrete Paver FAQ
How much do concrete pavers cost?
Cost depends on the size of the area, the paver style, the pattern, how much excavation and base work is needed, and whether it's a patio, walkway, or driveway. Driveways typically need more base material. We provide free on-site estimates so you get an accurate number.
How deep should the base be for pavers?
It depends on the use and your soil. Walkways and patios need less base than driveways, and wet or clay soils may need more. We size the base for your site so it resists frost heave and settling.
Do I need a permit for a paver driveway or patio?
Many patios and walkways don't, but driveway changes, especially anything that alters the curb cut or affects drainage, may need town approval. HOAs often have their own rules. Check with your municipality and HOA, and we'll provide any project details they need.
Will my pavers heave in winter?
Pavers on a properly excavated, compacted, and drained base hold up well through freeze-thaw. Most heaving comes from a thin base or poor drainage, which is why we focus there.
Can you remove my old concrete or asphalt?
Yes. Removal and disposal of an existing surface can be part of the project.
